Waterworks-Lamson
ULA Purist™ Fly Fishing Reel (Sold Out)
Product design is the marriage of materials
science and engineering with vision, creativity and art. It is the pursuit
of product perfection through superior performance, simplicity and grace.
The Waterworks-Lamson is unique among fly
fishing companies. They are not a machine shop selling reels or a
marketing company importing products from overseas. They focus exclusively
on fly fishing products and superior product design. They are
committed to the highest standards of domestic manufacturing. You
won't see The Waterworks marketing "just another fly reel" or a "me-too"
accessory.

Waterworks-Lamson ULA Purist™ Fly Fishing Reel
The Waterworks ULA Purist Series reels are, to
our knowledge, the lightest machined reels in the world today.
To achieve this weight savings, the ULA Purist
uses an arm-style body and open spool design. In order to maintain
structural rigidity, each surface of the ULA is curved. This subtly
complex shape is extremely demanding to machine, but results in a strong,
light and beautiful high-performance reel.
The ULA Purist Series represents the lightest
end of the ULA range of reels. These Purist reels utilize a click-pawl
brake to achieve maximum simplicity and weight savings. This reel is for
fly fishers who want to minimize weight and maximize contact with the
fish. The P-Series reels are CNC milled from solid aerospace-grade
aluminum and titanium in the U.S.

All Waterworks-Lamson ULA Purist™ reels feature:
-
Large-arbor design for faster retrieves.
The ratio of arbor diameter to width and depth is optimized, which results
in constant drag and less line coil memory
-
Extreme strength and lightness - fully machined from ultra-durable
heat-treated 6020 aluminum alloy and Grade 5 titanium.
Eliminates the negative forces a heavier reel exerts on a rod, improving
casting feel and performance
-
Ceramic Type III anodized, which is 10 times
thicker and harder than standard Type II used in competitor's reels.
-
Fewer parts, just 23, are needed to make the ULA
relative to most competitor's reels at over 80. Simplicity in
engineering is a better design that reduces weight and increases
reliability.
-
Click-and-pawl brake system for simplicity,
weight reduction, and feel
-
Phenomenal open frame design and highly
ventilated spool
makes for the lightest reel on the market
-
Easily converted from right to left hand

Waterworks-Lamson Reels Technical Details
LINE STORAGE FORMAT
Waterworks-Lamson
large arbor reels maximize the benefits of large arbor design by maximizing
the arbor diameter-to-width ratio. The spool is large in circumference and
wide, so that line is stored in a shallow layer. The increased circumference
provides high retrieve rate and eliminates line coil memory. The wide,
shallow line layer means there is little radius change as line is pulled
form the reel. This results in constant drag torque during long runs and
eliminates the risk of tippets breaking due to drag force gain.
